It turns out that producing heat through pure corn is less than
half the cost of producing heat through ethanol. (I don't know if
this includes the cost of pollution or not) A
corn-fired furnace is a little bit more expensive, and it's more
labor-intensive, but it seems to make a bit more sense than oil-fired power plants, at least over time. Too bad coal is still so cheap and dirty.
